Haha great!

Of course, now I have the "Arnold Rimmer song" stuck in my head, thanks, mate...

"I want me pea back!" Oh boy.. memories.

Anyway - quite a good twist on the classic Worms/scorched earth, tank battle genre - I like the planetoid/gravity gameplay.

Very well done. I've been playing for about an hour - so that's gotta count for womething =D

Great!

Stayed true to the bizarreness of the original Dad's home short, was extremely fun to play, and so random it's hilarious!

LOVED the walk smash walk tribute! =D

Lol @ the crews

[Begin tl;dr]

You know, it took me nearly ten years but I've finally goten over my "rage" at the audacity that is the clock crew and their inane ability to produce sheer volumes of wasted bytes.

Today I realized... You know what? It really doesn't matter if there are "crews" out there, filling the portal with crap. That is the purpose that the portal serves - to weed out the garbage and the chaff, and leave what is good to get placed in positions of grandeur.

The crews will always be around, peddling their nonsensical putrescence, but, occasionally something of value rises to the top of the slurry.

This is one of those rising-to-the-top-of-the-slurry-thing s.

I don't know why, but I find this flash unbelievably entertaining. Perhaps it is the commentary on the typical RPG - the overblown takes-20-minutes-to-execute "special moves," the absurdity of shooting 30 rounds or a holy-crap-asplode rocket launcher at an enemy and having them fall to the earth in a heap, only to rise again, with an arbitrary number floating over their head, ready to retaliate with something equally absurd, such as a stampede of smaller versions of themselves or some fantastical dinosaur thing, or perhaps it is just the fact that no matter what i do i simply [emphasis, please] cannot die [/emphasis, please], but this, while simple and 'crappy' by 'elitist crew haters' standards, thoroughly entertained me.

Or, it could simply be the fact that it's midnight, and I should really go to sleep.

But I digress, I did not come here to wax philosophical on the merits and short-comings of the clock crew. I came here to provide 'props' and 'hollas' to the individual that finally made me realize the futility of becoming angry at the actions of a few anonymous individuals on a website that takes in submissions from every corner of the tripple-dub.

The true value of this monster of technology is that there is the freedom for people to create the likes of /b/ and newgrounds portal spam.

'Keep it realz, yo, home slice' and 'don't let the haterz bring ya down.'

Oh, and kitteh krew still does and always will suck. They're just worthless =)

fullmetalchaz responds:

You said quite a mouthful, I guess your used to that kind of thing.

Ok, here's my review

1) I see what you are trying to do here. You have three options:
a) make it so incredibly awesome so no one can live without it (unlikely)
b) stop making these (please)
c) stop releasing "beta" versions that offer one extra thing per "release"
- a beta is a public testing of a finished product. This doesn't even
qualify as an alpha - this would be a subversion of a 0.xx release.
2) It's useless
a) I hate to be "rude" but it really is. What on earth is the marketability of this?
b) Computers have enough crap running on them already. Who is going to have
this running on their desktop? OSX already has a fully functional, cutomizable
dashboard, and Windows has it's less functional rip-off.
c) Why would someone want to start a flash projector file - I assume that;s the
result - in order to run an essentially useless flash dashboard?
3) It's ugly
a) There's entirely too much going on here. Moving shapes in the background.
Unliscensed music playing (that means that you cannot use this in any scope
when finished). Useless "utilities" available on every modern computer already.

There. Thats what i think after seeing three of these.

Either a) finish it completely and make it amazing or
b) find some other use for flash.

I really hate to be harsh, but it's true.

Great series!

I loved the first one, and this one is no different.

The main reason i like these? They remind me very much of "Day of the Tentacle" - you know - that sequel to maniac mansion?

My only problem is that i cannot get past the castle entrance - i appear to have run out of things to click on, and i cant seem to get the rope off the bell...

Regardless - the graphics are splendid, and the music exceptional.

I don't mind the whole speech bubble thing, it reminds me of retro-goodness.

Really, superior work. Can't wait for some hint to resolve the bell thing, and of course, Chapter 2.

Pretty Cool

This concept is (to me at least) fresh and new, it's a bit different than your stndard "catch the calling object" game. I like the fact that you have the many mouths along the bottom and you have to line up with the falling foods as appropriate.

It adds a bit of skill, fun, and newness to an otherwise dull genre. Good Job! Really!

inversecoma responds:

I was thinking about changing it from food to people to better fit newgrounds' audience. lol.

...

Well, aside from the technical innaccuracies in your comment, it was pretty evident that this wasn't real, seeing as the loader wont move. I didn't even have to wait to find out.

I think you will get a few lol's out of some people, but not many :/

biggest technical description problem: compressing a 13MB flash down to <1M somehow justifies a long loading time.

I will say this however:

With the description you wrote, i can really see you having a future as a copywriter or an editor/journalist for the Onion.

Seriously, i mean that.

Awesome

I really, really, really like seeing your work on newgrounds, but I enjoy seeing your work on the front page even more...It's like that hiding in plain sight concept, planting seeds, etc...

Great work on this installment, the graphics have much improved from previous episodes, and the voice acting/recording has also gotten better...only one gripe, and that's the scripting - at tmes it's a little weak...the weak parts have all been pretty much covered, but i think the one that really bugged me was the part where she goes "you took his life..." etc.

The rooms were a bit tough at times, and finding the dang nail frustrated the mess out of me, but i'll get over it...

This series is by far one of the best i've seen on NG, and all the aspects combined - animtion, voice acting, scripting, gameplay, action, etc make for a very interesting "escape" type game experience.

Keep up the GREAT work, and keep planting....

Solid Game - never seen anything like it...

Interesting Concept - thanks for wasting my time! Had...to...keep...playing..to...end...

Draw your own path with a walking character in a platform environment...innovative at the least.

Graphics (4/10):

Honestly...kinda bland...if it weren't for the "gripping" gameplay they would have been a major turn off. Color is nice...Apple II's were a thing of the 80's....

Style (10/10):

Very innovative...Never seen anything quite like it. perfect score

Sound (2/10):

Nothing wrong with the song itself...but hearing it over and over and over and over and... well, it's enough to drive you mad. The dude's screams were a nice touch... How about adding a music player...or using a longer song...

Violence (3/10):

Dude died, but without blood: a clean 3

Interactivity (10/10):

not only did you have to control the character. you had to draw the level...interactive on many levels... Perfect Score

Humor (2/10):

Humor is mostly N/A in this swif, but the random appearance of the word "penis" in Drew's level was worth two points...

Overall (8/10):

Solid Concept, fun (if a little frustrating at times....) game, and an enjoyable way to pass time. Very challenging at times, with an overall moderate difficulty ('cept the first couple....) and since this is the first of this kind...an eight is warranted. Good Job, and i hope to see more.

Jackass

If you're going to use my music, CREDIT ME JACKASS!
The name of that track is "The bubbles are killing me," and it's available in my audio posts.

Other than that, thanks for using my music.
